The inability to perceive another person's mental state.

Today's word seems to have been minted by Simon Baron-Cohen, who published a book titled Mindblindness: An Essay on Autism and Theory of Mind in 1995. Mr. Baron-Cohen was also kind enough to supply the first media citation I could find for this term.
